OLN Training Video Before you begin reading this training manual, we suggest that you first review the two OLN training videos. These are accessible at the
Catalog Maintenance Home page.
User Name and Password
Before an institution's catalog coordinator can enter course data into the Ohio Learning Network (OLN) online catalog site, OLN has to assign a password. If you do not have a password, or have forgotten your assigned password, please contact Anna Bendo at abendo
@oln.org or by phone at (614) 485-6741.
OLN/HEI Maintenance Site
You will be loading data on two servers when you load data into OhioLearns! In general, your course and course section data is entered through a server maintained by the
Higher Education Information (HEI) unit at the Ohio Board of Regents. Your certificate, degree and institutional data is entered through a server maintained by The Ohio Learning Network. There is an OLN training video, that is accessible off the Course Catalog Maintenance page (Figure 1), that explains how you can acquire user ID and passwords for both of these servers.
Course and Section Data Entry
On the Course Catalog Maintenance page (Figure 1), there are four links for course and section data entry related sites. These links go to the HEI server site. There are two ways to load course and section data. You can add or modify courses using data entry screens. Or, you can submit course and section data through a batch file format. The file structures for both approaches are called Distance Learning Course Offerings (DO) and Distance Learning Course Sections (DS). The four links that lead data entry on the Course Catalog Maintenance page are listed below.
- Add or Modify Courses via Data Entry Screens
- Submit Course and Course Section Batch Files
- Search for Particular Courses and Sections
